Hennessy VSOP Privilege Limited Edition by Refik Anadol Cognac
Introduction
If you’ve ever wanted to drink your favorite cognac brand, but didn’t want the bottle to be boring, Hennessy has got you covered. The company has teamed up with Refik Anadol, a new media artist and pioneer in artificial intelligence (AI), to create a limited release bottle of VSOP Privilege Cognac that looks like something out of Tron or Blade Runner—and we’re not complaining!

Hennessy, one of the world’s most popular cognac brands, has teamed up with Refik Anadol, a new media artist and pioneer in artificial intelligence, to create a limited release bottle of VSOP Privilege Cognac. The innovative design was created using artificial neural networks (ANNs) trained on thousands of sketches by Anadol and then digitally printed onto the glass bottles using laser etching technology.
The outcome? A design that mimics the hand-drawn sketches from which it was born yet features intricacies not possible to achieve with human hands alone—including reflections and shadows that only appear when you shine light through the bottle at different angles.
The bottle itself was created by Anadol using a technique called “AI drawing,” which is produced by an artificial neural network trained on thousands of images of VSOP Privilege bottles.

Although this isn’t the first time Hennessy has partnered with an artist to create a limited edition bottle—in the past it’s worked with artists like JonOne, Felipe Pantone and Os Gemeos—this is its first collaboration with an AI artist.
The special edition is the result of a collaboration between Hennessy and Refik Anadol, an AI artist who uses a neural network to create works of art. In this case, Anadol’s work was directed by the Cognac house’s own creative team, who fed their own designs into the machine before it began to produce its own drawings.

The new limited edition bottle will be available starting September 1 on ReserveBar for $60, but if you’re willing to pay more you can also pick up a “super-premium” gift set that includes two glasses and a plate designed by Anadol as well.

While the Privilege Limited Edition is only available at ReserveBar, Hennessy already has another special cognac in store: the Hennessy Paradis Imperiale Cognac Gold Edition. This special blend of 50 year old cognacs costs $200,000 per bottle—and it’s already sold out!
While we’ll have to wait and see how the cognac tastes—which we’re sure is good considering it’s Hennessy—the bottle looks very cool and adds some interesting digital flair to your shelving unit.

Want to add something really cool to your liquor cabinet?
A lot of people see liquor bottles as something to simply store their booze in. But what if you want to add something really cool to your liquor cabinet? A bottle that can be a conversation starter or even a piece of art on its own, beyond serving its intended purpose? Enter Hennessy VSOP Privilege Limited Edition by Refik Anadol Cognac.
The bottle features an ultra-blue color scheme that’s balanced by the gold lettering and intricate design. It was created by AI artist EJ JONES using data from other works by Anadol, who hand painted each one with his signature style—the result is a beautiful and unique package for this special edition brandy.
All 50 bottles were hand-painted over 6 months by AI artist EJ Jones (real name: Ethan Jansen) using data from previous works by Anadol himself, who would then use the painting technique he learned from his mentor, Pierre Legrain-Lévy (a French painter considered one of the greatest of all time). This handcrafted collection is available starting September 1st at ReserveBar for $60 each; or you can also get them directly from us here at Hennessy VSOP Privilege Limited Edition!
Conclusion
That’s all we have for you today, but be sure to check back soon for more news on art and technology. And if you want to see the bottle in person before buying it, there will be a pop-up exhibition at Grand Central Station from September 12th through 14th.
