Macallan 10 years old sherry oak is a matured, delicate and elegant whisky. It is matured in American oak barrels, from which it takes its rich colour and deep flavour. Aged for ten years in sherry casks from Jerez de la Frontera, this is the firm’s classic expression of a rich, full-bodied style of whisky. Matured for ten long years in American oak casks before being transferred to Oloroso Sherry Oak for an extra two years maturation.

The Macallan 10 Year Old Sherry Oak is a classic dram that’s been matured in sherry oak casks, bringing out the best in the liquid. The distillery’s main aim with this is to create a flavour of peatiness through barrelled maturing. This whisky has a lovely amber colour, with notes of vanilla and caramel on the nose. On the palate it’s aged for 3 years in American white oak casks, giving it light body, before being finished for 7 years in sherry oak cask that give it its golden colour and adds flavours of dried fruit and raisins alongside hints of almond paste

Macallan is a distillery that revolves around Sherry. Sixty percent of Macallan’s spirit has been aged in Sherry casks since 1824, particularly Spanish oak sherry casks from Jerez and bodegas in the Andalusia region of Southern Spain. This gives the whisky a deep golden amber with orange and red highlights, hints of peppermint and wood smoke on the nose, with sweet notes of gingerbread and honey leading into a spicy palate with hints of cedar wood and dried fruit.

A marriage of American oak and Spanish oloroso sherry casks adds layers of sweet vanilla and caramel flavours to huge waves of spice that break over peppery, tobacco leaf notes. A generous hit of oak mingles with flavours of raisins, dried figs, milk chocolate and blackcurrants to create a remarkably smooth finish that leaves you wanting more.

Macallan 10 Year Old Sherry Oak is the first in the new ‘Fine Oak’ range, crafted from a combination of the world’s finest oak casks. It delivers a multi-dimensional nose combining notes of vanilla, baked apple and roasted nuts with background hints of spice, almonds and sherry. The mouthfeel is rich and creamy with a long finish.
