The Macallan 1950 Exceptional Cask 67 Year Old Whisky Tasting Notes. Nose: Polished Antique oak, with delicate peaches and vanilla. Palate: Intense antique oak with wood spices. Orange peel zest with warm root ginger.
An incredible release in the Exceptional Single Cask series, this Speyside single malt was distilled at The Macallan while rationing was still in force. Laid down in a first fill American oak sherry butt (#1683) on 9th November 1950, this single cask was left to mature in The Macallan warehouses for almost seven decades before it was chosen for bottling in 2018. Limited to just 336 bottles at a natural cask strength of 53.4% abv, this 67-year-old expression is truly magnificent.
Selected for bottling by Macallan Whisky Maker, Nick Savage, this expression is said to have aromas of polished antique oak, delicate peaches and vanilla. The palate is noted for its intense antique oak with wood spices, orange peel zest, warm root ginger and subtle hints of peat. The finish is long with a dry sweetness and peat.
