The Macallan Rare Cask is a rare and exceptional whiskey; this release is limited to just 2,000 bottles. Each bottle containing a blend of fine old whiskies that were hand-selected by our Master Whisky Maker. Matured in a combination of traditional oak casks, sherry casks, American oak and European oak hogsheads, this whiskey has been bottled at 46% ABV and is available at Sainsbury’s through a special collaboration with The Balvenie.

Each bottle is filled from a selection of Sherry oak casks that were first filled in the early 1960s. The oldest whisky in this collection was distilled in 1962 and bottled in 2015. Enclosed in thick-walled decanters with copper detailing, each bottle has been hand-crafted by our team of skilled craftsmen at The Macallan’s own cooperage using traditional methods handed down through generations.
